A Real Sky, and Storms You Can See Coming

The sky over Castle Arena is now a real one. The sun rises and sets with a warm glow at the horizon, the moon shows a different phase each match, stars twinkle at night and clouds drift with the wind.

Storms

About twenty seconds before a heavy rain, the interface warns you that a storm is approaching. The wind picks up, thunder rolls in the distance and a dark wall of clouds rises on the horizon. Online, both players get the warning at the same time.

A battlefield that remembers

• Grass gets trampled into dirt where the troops march, turning to mud in the rain and slush in the snow.
• Explosions, lightning and fallen buildings scorch the ground for a few minutes.
• Ambient sounds follow the hour, the weather and the arena: birds at dawn, crickets and owls at night, frogs in the swamp, howling wind in winter.

For comfort, Lightning flashes (normal, soft or off) and Weather effects can be adjusted in the Options.
